as to there actual order story wise... i have no idea, i think they were only ever linked very lossely.
these are the titles i know of
*zelda nes *zelda a link to the past snes *zelda links awakening gb *zelda links awakening gx gbc *zelda ocarina of time n64 *zelda majooras (something like this... its the only one i havent beaten, besides the new one) mask n64 *zelda seasons gbc *zelda ages gbc *zelda link to the past/ four swords gba *zelda wind walker(something like that... i forgot the name) ngc
that is the basic line up... there could be more... i heard of a part 2 for nes but honestly i have never seen it, and chances are it was crap.
story wise they are all pretty similar... unfortunatly they didnt do a good job upgrading to 64.... i mean the story was still pretty obvious, and it just couldnt stand up to ff7.
as far as which is the best.... probably link to the past if you like the puzzle element... and ocarina of time if you dont. wind walker looked stupid so i didnt bother.... although it could be good

[glow=green,2,300] >:(WHAT You thought the wind waker looked stupid. Wow thats low. This was one of the biggest games in GCN history and was named game of the year twice!!! As for the story line each game has its own and there is really no connection [/glow]

I'll have to disagree with that. There is a story line order. There is a site I found that gives it. Here is the order: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening The Legend of Zelda Zelda II: The Adventure of Link Wind Waker is not included. I think it takes place far in the future of the original games. It still rocks though. Another non included one are Four Swords (GCN and GBA)

[glow=green,2,300]Well the website is wrong because if there was a story line then you would think they would at least mention things that happened in the last game, they would also sell them in that order. The Legend of Zelda series may be the different views of the legend of zelda. Wind Waker is a sequel though to OoT because in the begining it metions the OoT's story line and the Wind Waker continues from that point. Otherwise there is no order because the Wind Waker does not metion the other games [/glow]

The difference that makes OoT the first is that it has no mention of the hero of legend. This is because he is the first. After that, an aparent prophecy is made and it continues from there. Let me show you the URL that I got thhis new time line from and then we'll discuss it. www.zeldauniverse.net/main.php?page=timelineSo what ya think. There is a better one but I just want you all to see this.

[glow=green,2,300]This is nothing but a theory, it was not backed up by Nintendo and if Nintendo won't release the order of the story there is no story whatsoever. I mean try putting all the mario series together it would be the same thing a theory not a story line.[/glow]

The thing is, this is the most common theory out of any. I've looked on lots of websites, including one's of nintendo, and they are more or less the same theory.

Which do you guys think is the best old one. Don't include GCN versions. Mine would be Link to the past or OoT. OoT is the best of all time.

[glow=green,2,300]Yeah I would have to agree with you A Link to the Past and OoT are my favorites. They both had great gameplay time and I really enjoyed spending my time playing the two. When I got home I would go straight to the SNES or N64 and just start playin ;D[/glow]

hmmm i would have to say link to the past.... mainly because it is the best example of the type of game a mojority of the zeldas are, the birds eye view with all the secrets and crap.
ocarina of time was good, but it had the unfotunate fate of being released on the n64, which had about 3 games worth playing. besides that it is not a particularily difficult or advenutous game, though it was fun to play.
wind walker looked stupid to me, i cannot understand the art direction they took. whether or not it was a good game is another thing, but considering there is also only 3 games worth playing on the game cube, i doubt a majority of people care
btw, quoting a theory as fact is not a good idea... that theory also has its own holes

It may not have been hard, but personally, I don't think LttP was to hard either. At least once you get good. In OoT I got to the point where I could just shoot keese without thinking. Yet still, the story makes the game worth while. Just like MANY other games on th GCN and 64.
