im pretty sure sonic was never on snes... i fact until he went to ps2 and gc he was famous for that fact.
the original titles were pretty silly... i mean there wasnt much difference between them and one sonic got going.... you basically stood back and let him do his thang.
the newer versions have nice graphics BUT (and this is a big but) there is nothing to do in them, because the only stuff you ever get are rings.
if they made an rpg version it might be okay, but just making a 3d version of the old games doesnt work
btw has anyone seen the series sonic x? its a tryhard anime that has sonic come to the human world

I always thought sonic's debut was on the sega systems. I don't think nintendo ever had a game of it until the GCN. And thats probably becuase of Dreamcast's failure.

[glow=green,2,300]What happend was that Nintendo bought the right to team up with sega so Nintedo could get some few extra games and sega could keep on their feet. That is why you will see these days games made by sega on the GCN (example: Phantasy Star episodes 1&2)[/glow]

Yeah, that is what I heard. The point is Dreamcast did fail. So they resorted to nintendo to stay up but also are no longer an individual company.

correct. dreamcast was a system that failed to exceed psx in anyway despit vastly superior hardware... just look at the few games they did release. sonic was indeed first brought to nintendo as a means of supporting sega, but they have long since givin that up and now exist as simple developers. there games have been released on all the major systems, though tales of symphonia being released only on gameube shows that they are still annoyed at sony for destroying there company... i would have to wonder what nintendo was thinking too, the 64 did not do near as well as they hoped...

Yeah it could have gone better. I think nintendo actually turned down the playstation at one point in its development. I'm not sure though just something I heard. That could of had some effect on the N64.

very correct. psx was originally intended to be a top loading cd system that the super nintendo would have retired to. however nintendo backed out at a very late stage of development as they believed that people would prefer the cartridge format ( i would have guessed it had something to do with the lack of popularity the initial sega disc machines got)
obviously nintendo backing out was bad for sony, but as they had already worked so hard the obvious choice for the company would be to release the system themselves.
as far as i can tell the sony comp. designed their own controller, meaning that the original plsx planned to use the awful n64 controller.
although psx suffered from shocking piracy they sold 10 times as many units as every other competitor put together, so either way sony did well.

Yeah, that didn't turn out to be a smart move for nintendo. It proved highly beneficial for sony though. How dissapointing.

hmmm well it was nintendos fault, they made an extreemly bad call on keeping the cartridge system.

they always did have to change their cartridge shape every time or have it differ from other systems. Even now they made it a mini disc instead of normal size. I find that interesting. Always unique in that sense.

Really? I like cartriges better for some reason. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned...

The advantage of cartridges was that all the memory for the game was stored within them and that they were better protected.

And they didn't crack into two different pieces...

Yeah, but that hasn't happened to me on either system.
